The things people ask before they switch rank trackers.
Do I need an API key?
For rank tracking, yes: Searchzen checks Google through an official SERP data API, so it needs one API key from a supported provider (Serper, SerpApi, DataForSEO or ValueSERP). Providers bill per search, a check usually costs well under a cent at volume, and most give free credits to start. Google Search Console data and site audits need no paid key.
How often are rankings checked?
Daily or weekly, depending on the plan. Each keyword is checked for its own country, language, device and optional city, and the full history is kept, so you see daily movements, best positions and 1, 7 and 30-day changes.
Is scraping Google allowed?
Searchzen never scrapes Google. Positions come from official SERP data APIs run by the providers above, and clicks and impressions come from Google's own Search Console API with your permission. There are no proxies, CAPTCHAs or blocked IP addresses to deal with.
Can I white-label reports?
Yes. On plans with white-label branding, reports carry your logo, brand colour and company name, without a “Powered by” line. Share them as a live link, schedule weekly or monthly emails, or save them as a PDF.
How many pages can the audit crawl?
Each plan sets its own limit, from about a hundred pages on a free plan to thousands on agency plans, with a technical maximum of 50,000 pages per audit. The crawler follows internal links and your XML sitemap, respects robots.txt and crawl-delay, and runs in the background, so large sites don't time out.
Does it work on shared hosting or Vercel?
Yes. Searchzen is a Node.js app: it runs on a VPS, with Docker, on cPanel hosting with Node.js support, or on Vercel with a cloud MySQL database. Background jobs such as rank checks, crawls and scheduled reports are started by a simple cron URL, so no always-on worker is required.
Can my clients see reports without logging in?
Yes. Each project can have a share link that opens a read-only report without an account. Add a password if the numbers are sensitive, turn the link off or replace it at any time, and embed the SEO health badge on the client's website.
